What fashion trends are you going to rock this season?
Hello!
Trends! Love them or hate them but one thing is for sure, they’re where all the excitement in the Fashion world comes from. Understandably, following trends gets a bad rep, it’s SO easy to overdo them.
For me, trends are like a delicious accompaniment to a basic (maybe classic) meal. Think ketchup with fries and a burger or salsa with chips! Both suffer without the zing of the condiment.
Nothing wrong with an outfit put together entirely with classic pieces but that one trendy item elevates it to another level. Add too many though and it ends up looking like a mishmash of “trying too hard” and “look at me”. Who wants that?
Every season, I pick out my favorite trends that will bring the zing to my outfits. It’s become like a ritual now that I enjoy very much and it also helps guide my purchases throughout the year. Here are my favorite trends for Fall/Winter 2019.

Animal print everything

Okay, this is not really a trend. It’s been around for so many years now that it really belongs on the classics list. This year though the usual Leopard has taken a backseat and Snakeskin, Zebra and Tiger have really come to the forefront.
H ow to wear it?
- Easiest way to play with this trend is with shoes and accessories. Bored with Leopard pumps? Try Snakeskin booties or a Zebra print scarf.
- Pair easy pieces like a printed sweater or Leopard pants with basics in your wardrobe. A Leopard skirt seems to be in every bloggers closet.
- Feeling adventurous? Go all out with a faux fur coat or a glamorous dress in animal prints.
- Less is more! Don’t go into Cruella DeVil territory.Croc embossed accessoriesThis is another trend that feels like it’s been around forever. Moc Croc is a paradoxical one since it feels both retro and modern. Shoes and bags is where this trend really shines but look for very minimalist pieces to keep it from looking like something from the seventies. If you love the vintage look then go for it!I also love some of the more unique moc-croc items like headbands and earrings.Leather but betterThink Neo and Trinity. I might not be that edgy but still leather is one trend I am super excited about. Leather jackets, shoes and

accessories are part of any classic wardrobe. However, this year brands have come out with clothing in various hues of faux leather.
H ow to wear it?
- Easiest way to play with this trend is with shoes and bags. Try a more unique color instead of basic black and brown.
- Same for leather jackets specially in colors like Forest Green or Opal white.
- Pair leather skirts or pants with simple knits for an edgy but still sophisticated look.
- Go full Matrix with a leather trench coat!Dark moody florals

Sorry 🙂 I couldn’t resist. I feel like this trend has been kind of on the fringe for past few seasons but this year it is everywhere. I absolutely love dark moody Autumn florals. From long dresses to skirts this is a very versatile trend that also plays well with the other trends.

Fur and Shearling
This trend has been going strong for a couple of seasons now. I have had trouble finding flattering pieces in faux fur but finally found my dream faux fur coat. I love faux fur not only because its cozy and warm but also because of the texture it adds to a plain outfit.
This year look for faux fur coats in unusual colors like purple and pink. Handbags in various kinds of faux fur look uber cool too. Chanel has so many shearling bags this season!
Color trends
Color is one of the easiest ways to sport a trend while still sticking to classic cuts and silhouettes. More traditional cold weather colors like black, navy and burgundy will always be in style. However, adding a more unusual color does add visual interest and drama. Some of my favorite trendy colors are:
- Various shades of brown specially in leather items.
- Metallics particularly silver and mossy gold.
- Deep forest green which looks great in a croc embossed pieces.
- Millenial Purple which is basically a pale lavender.
- Fuchsia pink specially in combination with red.Sub trends I like
- Satin Hairbands and clips with pearls and rhinestones are perfect for the holiday season.
- Pleated skirts and dresses go from work to weekend and beyond.
- Plaid and Houndstooth which Chanel heavily showcased this year.
- Embellished shoes is another trend for the holidays.
